Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
  1. 3/4 cup butter, softened
  2. 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  4. 1 tsp baking powder
  5. 1/4 tsp baking soda
  6. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  7. 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  8. 2 eggs
  9. 1 tsp vanilla
  10. 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  11. 2 cup rolled oats
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter in an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves. Beat until combined, scraping sides of the bowl occasionally. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can in the mixer. Stir in the remaining flour. Stir in rolled oats.
  2. Drop dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an uncreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 - 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute.
  3. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.
Notes
  1. Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies
  2. Prepare as above, except after stirring in oats, stir in 1 cup of raisins or snipped dried tart cherries.
  3. Oatmeal- Chip Cookies
  4. Prepare as above, except after stirring in oats, stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate, butterscotch- flavoured, or peanut butter-flavoured chips and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.
